I tried making a video but my words never work out as well as they do when I type and even when I type there is still a bit of a lag between my hands and my brain and it is never quite what I want…
But As far as the title is concerned. Over the past few weeks I feel like my already fairly solid views have only intensified to a point that even I can’t understand. I don’t know if its because I’m paying more attention or if I’m just in a place right now where I’m annoyed with the state of the world. But HONESTLY.
I’ll try to write this out the best I can- I know people can do this a lot better than I can but here we go.
On the people who want to ban/dislike/are disgusted by/whatever else by gay marriage and abortion……why? And not why don’t you like it … why do you care. I don’t know if you ever realized it but… what other people do with themselves isn’t really your concern… I don’t know why you allow your life to be consumed with whether someone wants to marry someone they love or they want to have an abortion for a child that they are not ready to take care of.
It’s not as if people being able to get abortions means that EVERY baby has to be aborted from now on. Its not like they are going to be “oh well abortions are legal now. oh you’re pregnant? Nope.”
It’s not as if gay people being able to get married means you have to have to get married to someone who is the same gender as you.
It doesn’t personally affect you. If it does….how??? ”oh well I don’t want to have to explain it to my kids- that makes me uncomfortable.” Okay then have the teachers talk to them about it. Oh wait- they can’t do that if you try to ban teachers from talking about it in schools can you? Oh jeez that would be really awkward for you wouldn’t it.
“Well they are going to go to hell for it” Okay… well, first of all I don’t think thats true, I think if people are genuinely kind and honest people then they will go to whatever version of heaven that they believe in. And so let’s say that despite your decision to make life difficult for people on earth that you get into heaven then…. it /still/ doesn’t matter where they are does it? Because you are going to be in your own little heaven and you’re not going to give a shit about anyone else at that point are you?
“Its unnatural” No its not shut up. I can’t even think of something witty to say on that matter. you can’t control it just as much you cant chose who your parents are. And even if for some reason they could control it… how is it any of your business what they decide to do? Its THEIRS to control.
“They could put the baby in an orphanage instead of killing it” Are you going to adopt that baby? are you going to personally follow that woman around until they give you the baby? Then you can discuss that with them… in the mean time, I’m pretty sure that there are /plenty/ of children already in orphanages that people weren’t ready to take care of… and so if you don’t want to take care of one of those then you can do that 25 cents a day thing for the kids in Africa. /that/ seems like a better use of your time and resources to me.
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and all that… be treated as you want to be treated. I could go on.
Marriage is an act of happiness and love, abortions are (as I see it) a right to protect themselves and a child from an environment where both would be unhappy- and then perhaps when they are in a more stable place they can consider having a child and further that pursuit.
But does protesting and hating these people /really/ make you happy? If it does then I think you need to assess yourself. Do you honestly have nothing better to do with your time than making life harder for people?
Theres now way that I can say all these things with out it coming off wrong one way or another. But I honestly don’t understand it… there is so much more important things that have to be dealt with in the world /why/ do you chose to attack things that are a matter of personal choice and not over things like the economy or the banks or the rapidly corrupting government…. those are things that concern everyone and should be dealt with.
